Paddock to Garment now at Cygnet Old Bank

Paddock to Garment

Paddock to Garment has now opened a spinning and weaving studio and gallery/shop at Cygnet Old Bank.

The Paddock to Garment Story

Run by Karen Grady & Gordon Drake, ‘Paddock to Garment’ started with two alpacas, as grass cutters, and one spinning wheel. Quickly addicted to both, these were followed by more alpacas, a loom and sundry other weaving items. Then came the silk worms and the real fun started.  Hand spun, handwoven alpaca & silk creates an astounding product. Soft and light weight, with wonderful drape and sheen.

The Garments

The Garments are an eclectic mix of alpaca and silk, sometimes with locally sourced up-cycled items. The garments are created for citizens of the world. People who love luxury fibres, people who are inquisitive, people who appreciate an item made by an artisan and are capable of understanding the true value of classically unique.  The garments are created for people who love timeless design – they are, forever garments.

The artist in residence

Karen Grady is an award winning spinner and weaver. Spinning and weaving alpaca fibre is Karen’s passion. She strives to bring out the best aspects of alpaca in her craft and in creating her bespoke fashion. “My objective is to use natural fibres, colours and textures to create truly unique garments.”
